Beautiful singing

How you learn
to sing beautifully

The criteria for a beautiful voice

It is not so easy to find generally valid criteria for a beautiful voice. The aesthetic feeling is always individual, tastes are different. And yet we strive for an ever more beautiful sounding voice. So what can you judge yourself on?

Sing beautifully = sing freely

A free swinging voice is perceived as beautiful. How come?
When we tense muscles, it’s an uncomfortable feeling. Tensing the jaw all day long will lead to headaches, for example.
Now look at the following picture:

Do you see how many muscles are connected to the throat? Not only the jaw muscles but also the entire body posture! Every tension has an effect on the sound. If a person is not feeling well mentally, we hear this in the sound of his voice. We don’t have to be musically gifted to do that.

A free, loose voice is also perceived as physically and emotionally relaxed. That’s a nice feeling.

Beautiful singing with overtones.

Only with a free sounding voice it is possible to produce a voice rich in overtones.

Voices like that sound “glittering.” (Glitter is also beautiful!;) )

As if you had gold particles in the air that float through the room or glowworms. Every opera singer must learn how to use overtones.

He has to make sure that all vowels have the same quality. If, for example, you open your mouth too wide for the A and “swallow it backwards”, there are fewer overtones and the tone can no longer carry as well as with the I.

That would be quite problematic for the last row…

In pop music, overtones are often mixed in by the recording studio. This function is called “brilliance”, for example.

But also in classical music there is more and more cheating.

There are very clear techniques (for example with the mouth position, tongue and breath guidance) how to give the voice more brilliance.

Dynamic depth

Dynamism is a tool with which you can put your feelings into your voice. Please take a look at my free video (on the right), there I will explain what I mean. A tone that is not shaped musically sounds dead. Vitality also means beauty!

Funny examples are Joe Cocker and Louis Armstrong: Well, you can’t really speak of an overtone-rich, well guided voice with these two gentlemen…

But: It’s still incredibly moving and nice to listen to you. They just sing with feeling. Dynamic, agogic, expressive text interpretation and support from the body.

practical tips for you:

• you will learn a good breathing technique, this is the only way to relax the muscles around your throat.

• Work with your singing teacher (or here in the online workshop) on vocal balancing and voice focusing.

• Sing from the heart! Musical interpretation leads the way

„sing expressively and from your heart“
